3M™ Silvercel™ Non-Adherent Antimicrobial Alginate Dressing is a non-woven pad composed of alginate, carboxymethylcellulose (CMC), and silver-coated nylon fibers with a non-adherent wound contact layer.
• Provides a sustained release of silver ions for up to 7 days
• Effective against a broad spectrum of wound pathogens
• Effectively prevents biofilms in vitro
• Manages low to highly exuding wounds
• Helps maintain a moist wound environment beneficial to wound healing
• Allows intact removal, thus minimizing the risk of dressing adherence to the wound bed and fibers shedding
3M™ Silvercel™ Non-Adherent Antimicrobial Alginate Dressing with 3M™ Easylift™ Precision Film Technology is an effective barrier to bacterial penetration. The barrier functions of the dressing may help reduce infection in moderate to heavily exuding partial- and full-thickness wounds, including: pressure injuries, venous ulcers, diabetic ulcers, donor sites, and traumatic and surgical wounds.
3M™ Silvercel™ Non-Adherent Antimicrobial Alginate Dressing is not indicated for use on the following: third-degree burns; patients with a known sensitivity to alginates, ethylene methyl acrylate (EMA) or silver; surgical implantation; or to control heavy bleeding.
As wound conditions improve and exudate levels decrease, it may be preferable to switch to a more appropriate dressing, or apply to saline moistened wound bed.
The dressing performance may be impaired by excess use of petrolatum-based ointments.
Avoid contact with electrodes or conductive gels during electronic measurements, e.g. electrocardiograms (ECG) and electroencephalograms (EEG).
Do not use dressing on patients undergoing Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI).
Do not use dressing on pregnant or lactating women due to the absence of specific information.
Clinicians/health care professionals should be aware that there are very limited data on prolonged and repeated use of silver containing dressings, particularly in children and neonates.
Indicated for external use only.

Debride when necessary and irrigate the wound site in accordance with standard protocols.
Remove excess solution from surrounding skin.
Select a size of 3M™ Silvercel™ Non-Adherent Antimicrobial Alginate Dressing that is slightly larger than the wound.
Cut (using sterile scissors) or fold the dressing to fit the wound. Dispose of any unused dressing material, according to local procedures and guidelines, due to risk of contamination.
Loosely pack deep wounds ensuring the dressing does not overlap the wound margins.
For heavily exuding wounds, apply to wound bed directly. For wounds with minimal exudate, apply to saline moistened wound bed.
Cover and secure with a non-occlusive secondary dressing.
Dressing change frequency will depend on wound condition and the level of exudate. Initially it may be necessary to change the dressing every 24 hours.
Reapply 3M™ Silvercel™ Non-Adherent Antimicrobial Alginate Dressing when the secondary dressing has reached its absorbent capacity or whenever good wound care practice dictates that the dressing should be changed.
Gently remove the secondary dressing.
Gently remove the dressing from the wound bed and discard according to local procedures and guidelines. If the wound appears dry, saturate the dressing with sterile saline solution prior to removal.
Irrigate the wound site in accordance with standard protocols prior to application of a new dressing.
