AC5® Advanced Wound System is a synthetic peptide-based advanced wound dressing. Applied as a viscous peptide solution and self-assembles into a barrier scaffold when contacting the wound.
• Biodegradable and biocompatible to reduce risk of adverse effects
• Conforms to diverse wound beds to enable optimal coverage
• Provides moist healing environment
• Provides protective barrier to mitigate contamination and modulate inflammation
• Provides extracellular scaffold to enable cell growth and healing
• Naturally absorbed to reduce risk of pain or tissue damage with dressing changes
• Aids epithelialization and granulation tissue formation
• Supports opportunities for more aggressive debridement in non-surgical or lower acuity clinic settings
• Clinically demonstrated to benefit healing times in complex and chronic wounds
Under supervision of a health care professional, AC5® Advanced Wound System (AC5) is a topical dressing used for the management of partial- and full-thickness wounds, such as pressure injuries, leg ulcers, diabetic ulcers, and surgical wounds.
Warnings
For Topical External Use Only. Do not inject AC5 into blood vessels.
AC5 is not intended to be used as a hemostatic agent.
Use AC5 only with the components provided in the product kit.
Prior to use, prepare the AC5 solution by reconstituting the lyophilized peptide with Sterile Water for Injection, USP. Do not use the lyophilized peptide in powder form on wounds.
The reconstituted peptide solution is acidic (pH 2.3 ± 0.7).
Excess AC5 may be removed by sterile gauze.
Precautions
For single use only. Do not resterilize.
The safety and effectiveness of AC5 with or as a carrier for antibiotic solutions has not been tested.
The interaction of AC5 with antiseptics such as alcohol or povidone has not been investigated. If any antiseptic has been used near or on the wound, AC5 should not be applied until after the application site is cleaned to remove any such substances.
The control of blood glucose as well as appropriate pressure relief measures should be provided with diabetic foot ulcers.
Where infection is suspected or develops during the use of AC5, the progress of the wound should be monitored carefully. Consult a healthcare professional if the condition worsens or any of the following are noted: fever, increased pain, redness, bleeding, swelling, unusual odor, increased drainage or cloudy or foul drainage.
AC5 should be stored between 59°F and 77°F.
Do not freeze.
