Cutimed® Sorbact® with Sorbact® Technology binds hydrophobic bacteria with a physical mode of action and removes them without releasing active substances into the wound. Therefore, antimicrobial resistance is not expected.
• Effective in the cleansing of unclean, colonized and infected wounds
• Avoids side effects such as bacterial resistance, cytotoxic effects or allergies
• Creates optimum conditions for the natural wound healing process
• Irreversibly binds and inactivates wound pathogens
• Binds with a physical mode of action verses a chemical mode of action
Cutimed® Sorbact® dressings may be used on chronic wounds including: venous leg ulcers, arterial ulcers, pressure injuries, post-operative dehisced wounds, post-operative surgical wounds, lacerations, and traumatic wounds.
Do not use in combination with ointments and creams.
Do not re-use. Cutimed® Sorbact® dressings are for single patient and single use only. Re-use may lead to cross contamination and increased risk of infection. Do not use if the peel pouch is already opened or damaged, since the sterility cannot then be guaranteed. Do not use on patients with a known hypersensitivity to the dressing (dialkylcarbamoyl chloride [DACC™], cellulose acetate).
Do not use in combination with fatty products, such as ointments, creams and solutions as they may decrease the binding of hydrophobic microbes. Do not wrap around extremities, as circulation may be compromised. Do not apply Cutimed® Sorbact® dressings in direct contact with bone and tendons, exposed blood vessels, organs or nerves. Do not re-sterilize. If the treated condition deteriorates, fails to improve or a side effect is observed, consult an appropriate clinician.
Cutimed® Sorbact® dressings shall be stored dry and kept away from sunlight. Disposal should be made according to local environmental procedures.

Clean the wound according to standard procedures but do not dry completely. Gently press the dressing against the wound surface to remove superficial bacterial contamination. Make certain that the green Sorbact® side makes direct contact with the entire wound bed. Affix Cutimed® Sorbact® with the appropriate secondary dressing.
Dressing change frequency depends on the amount of exudate and the conditions of the wound. Dressings may be changed daily or stay in place for up to seven days in a moist wound. In wounds showing clinical signs of infection the dressing may be changed more often, as the local protocol or wound conditions require.
When the wound is clean and granulating, it is recommended to change to other types of suitable wound dressings that continue to promote a moist wound healing environment.
