Liquid Skin Protectants/Sealants
Liquid skin protectants and skin sealants are formulations designed to protect vulnerable areas from the effects of 1) mechanical or chemical injury and 2) excessive moisture from incontinence, perspiration, or wound drainage. They form a transparent protective coating on the skin. Indicated for use on stage 1 pressure injuries and low-exudating stage 2 pressure ulcers, pressure points and bony prominences and under adhesive products to protect the skin. Available in a wide variety of packaging, including foam applicator, wipe, spray bottle, and unit dose. Skin protectors can be the final step in the process of cleansing, moisturizing, and protecting the genital and rectal areas for the prevention of skin breakdown.

Application of liquid skin protectants or skin sealants are often the final step a comprehensive skin care protocol for the prevention of pressure ulcers/injuries, including the process of cleansing, moisturizing and protecting the genital and rectal areas to prevent skin breakdown.
Liquid skin protectants and skin sealants feature the following general performance properties and attributes:

• Prevents maceration of periwound skin
• Promotes dressing adhesion and atraumatic dressing removal
• Helps protect areas at risk of friction damage
Liquid skin protectant and skin sealant products are indicated for use on stage 1 pressure injuries and low-exudating stage 2 pressure ulcers, periwound and peristomal skin, pressure points and bony prominences, and under adhesive products to protect the skin.
Liquid skin protectants are contraindicated for use on open wounds or in deep puncture wounds.
