CTP/Skin Substitute Reimbursement: NOW is the TIME to Refine Product Selection and Use

Objectives:

  • Review the HCPCS codes assigned to various CTPs/skin substitutes
  • Review the CPT® codes pertinent to the application of CTPs/skin substitutes
  • Discuss the 2023 Medicare payment system for the application of CTPs/skin substitutes performed in physician offices and in hospital-owned outpatient wound/ulcer provider-based departments (PBDs)
  • Reiterate the importance of verifying coverage and understanding coverage policies before selecting and applying a CTP/skin substitute
  • Document the medical necessity for the application of a CTP/skin substitute, the specific CTP/skin substitute selected, and the application procedure in each patient’s medical record

Confusion reigns throughout the country regarding appropriate coding and payment in various sites of care, and Medicare coverage, including the recently released local coverage determinations and local coverage articles for cellular and/or tissue-based products (CTPs) for skin wounds/skin substitutes. Because these new evidence-based coverage guidelines will be implemented by three Medicare Administrative Contractors on September 17, 2023, this webinar will provide professionals and revenue cycle team members with the reimbursement facts needed to refine their CTP/skin substitute product selection and use.

Invite your team to learn and participate in the live Q&A session!
