Antimicrobials/Antifungals
Antimicrobials and antifungals are agents in cream, ointment, lotion, spray, or powder form that may be topically applied to the skin. May also be formulated with ingredients that provide a moisture barrier. Indicated when a fungal, yeast, or bacterial infection is diagnosed or strongly suspected. Judicious prophylactic use may be indicated if the risk of infection is increased due to invasive procedures, viral or metabolic diseases, chemotherapy or radiotherapy, prolonged corticosteroid therapy, or environmental exposure (eg, diarrhea). Contraindicated if the patient has any known allergies to the ingredients. Always read manufacturer's instructions and use according to directions.

Antimicrobial or antifungal agents are indicated when a fungal, yeast or bacterial infection is diagnosed or strongly suspected.
