Newark, Delaware
Kathy is the co-developer and coordinator of the Acute Surgical Wound Service at Christiana Care Health Services. She advocates a team approach along a continuum of care from inpatient to surgery to outpatient. Her concentration has been traumatic wounds and addressing the individualized needs of those affected. She continues to harmonize patient care after discharge to skilled nursing/rehabilitation facilities and home care.
With the ultimate goal of optimizing wound care outcomes she maintains certifications in Wound Care, Utilization Management, Case Management, and Gerontology. Towards that objective she especially enjoys educating through local, national, and international presentations to all levels of wound care providers. She created an interactive comprehensive website to augment her facility personnel with around-the-clock access to wound care questions. She has authored several research articles in wound and trauma journals.
This work has been by far the most rewarding. The team effort has afforded Kathy opportunities to enjoy sharing numerous patient success stories.
